Frequently Asked Questions
To find the number of pickets, divide the total fence length by the picket width plus gap spacing. For a privacy fence with 5.5 in pickets and 3.5 in gaps, each linear foot uses approximately 1.33 pickets.
Standard fence post spacing is 6–8 feet apart. Six-foot spacing provides more strength and is better for windy areas. Eight-foot spacing is common for privacy fences in moderate climates.
Typically 1–2 bags of 50 lb concrete mix per post, depending on post hole depth and diameter. A standard 6 ft post with a 2 ft deep hole requires about 1.5 bags.
At least one gate is recommended for access. Standard gate widths are 3–4 ft for pedestrian gates and 10–12 ft for driveway gates. Each gate requires additional post supports and hinge hardware.
